Weekly Report October 8, 2022

Another non-stop, never-sit-down day!  It was truly a beautiful fall morning (maybe a little smoke).  Praise God for the volunteers who welcome our Neighbors as if into their own kitchens.  It is truly heartwarming.  WE WELCOME AND NEED RETURNING AND NEW VOLUNTEERS!!

Thank you to the team from Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church for the early morning preparation of an oven full of breakfast burritos!  (Even with their efforts, we ran out ☹) You have prep and cleaning down to an exact science!!   Thanks also for helping us prepare food bags for our increasing Neighbor count.

We gave out 38 bags of groceries, plus 3 family boxes.

Thank you to MERCY WATCH for being with us this morning.  Their work with our Neighbors is professionally private.  Note that our Neighbors trust their care and are eager to consult.

The handing out of groceries and burritos is not only a transfer of goods.  It is an opportunity to create relationships.  “How are you?  We haven’t met, I am ______.  This is a system that has worked for 12-plus years.  It grows and gets better.

We will be seating our Neighbors inside next Saturday, October 15.  To all breakfast teams, it’s up to you…  Do you want to continue with burritos?  We will serve from inside the kitchen.  All team members and Neighbors will be as safe.  Let’s start slowly and adapt as our numbers grow.  To teams that have not been able to be with us, we pray that you can return.

Prayers:  Kevin still asks us to pray for him as he looks for a new 1 bedroom home.  He is committed to moving in November.  He also asks us to pray that he gets good grades at Edmonds College, and prays for the safety of his children and that financial windfall.

With the October 15 return of our listening tables, we know that there will be many more prayers to share.
