Weekly Report December 10, 2022

Please forgive the ooohhh and aaahh of this report.  It was definitely a day full of blessings of gifts and coincidences.

Humble thanks to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for including Neighbors in Need on their congregation’s giving tree.  Members of that congregation gifted our Neighbors with blankets, gloves, combs and brushes, personal grooming supplies such as razors, and warm garments.  On behalf of our Neighbors, we are so truly grateful.

We moved our clothing distribution into the multi-purpose room.  Rick, Peggy, and Sue worked together to design a truly efficient clothing distribution area and a system for volunteers to organize during the week.  Just look!  Our Neighbors were able to enter one at a time and with this clothing team’s help  ( in an important timely manner), they chose warm clothing for this wet and windy weather.

Thank you to the burrito team from Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation team for hot breakfast!  We served 37  Neighbors this morning.  It’s a big deal to be on the job at 7 AM. We acknowledge your gift and welcome the blessing of your company.

A post note about last week’s Puget Sound Brass Ensample concert to benefit Neighbors in Need.  Donations exceeded $1000.00, not counting food and blanket donations.  We are grateful to Sharon for planning a reception to follow the concert.  We enjoyed hot apple sider and an array of holiday cookies – plus the company of delightful visiting with members of the ensample.   They promise to return next year.  Don’t miss it.

Mercy Watch was with us.  The authority they offer as professionals is critical to the welfare of our Neighbors.  Praise God for their support and credibility to our ministry as well as their heart filled care for our Neighbors.

Prayer requests:

Prayers of Praise!! ☹  Kevin was approved and is a nice new apartment.  He continues to ask us to pray with him for safety for his children and grandchildren and for a financial windfall.

Prayers of praise for Gary whose heart surgery was so successful.  He is feeling great!

Continued prayers for Kelly.  Swedish/Providence has built his confidence such that he is willing to endure a long convalescence and is committed, when he is healthy,  to mentoring the younger homeless community.

We wish you the warmth and blessings of this season

Joan
