Weekly Report April 22, 2023

A word of wisdom from one of our long-term Neighbors.  “Before I place judgment on someone, I have to ask myself. ‘Did I write his book?’.”

Our food bank and breakfast teams served 39 Neighbors and 3  families this morning.  Many thanks to Sue and Mark Waldin for providing a traditional breakfast  – scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes, and all the trimmings.  Our Neighbors were so pleased!  They lingered over breakfast, clearly enjoying a leisurely morning to visit each other.  Thanks also to Giovana and Michelle for helping with the cooking and serving.

And look at the stove!! 😊  Additional thanks to Mark and Sue for donating the tools to give it the cleaning it deserves.

We enjoyed the company of two high school students this morning.  They helped with set up, food bank distribution to Neighbors, and with break down.  On a busy morning, we are truly grateful to Carter and Kasey.  We hope they will be with us as often as their schedules allow.

“Set up” and “break down” are common terms in our reports, but the terms read way too simply.  These racks are only half of the supplies that need to come up from the basement and then be returned at the end of the morning.  This is heavy work that requires a careful strategy for placement and storage.  Thanks so much to our volunteers and several Neighbors who help with this work.

Can you donate?   We are once again in need of men’s jeans, sizes 32, 34, or 36.

We are also nearly out of men’s shoes.

Heroe’s Café:  If you are a veteran or know a veteran, plan to attend Heroe’s Café, this Tuesday, April 25, beginning at 10:30 AM with lunch served at 11:00.  Enjoy great company as well as good food.  Heroe’s Café meets at New Life Church, 6519 188th St SW in Lynnwood.

We are so grateful for your work and your prayerful support.

Joan
