Just have to share a picture of the Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation breakfast team. After arriving by 7:30 AM to prepare breakfast burritos, they deep clean the kitchen and then head out to see how else they can help. This is typical of our burrito brigades. They serve with purpose and great joy.
EUUC also supplies our food bank with fresh fruit, oatmeal, cold cereals, tuna packets, cheese sticks, and various beverages. They provide precious nutrition for our Neighbors.
Thanks again to Nurse Gail from Mercy Watch for being with us this morning. Once again, she provided some badly needed foot care (plus a bunch of band-aids to a bunch of people).
Our foodbank served 52 Neighbors this morning. On such a bright morning, we had guests in as soon as we opened. The food bank crew was busy until the very end.
Prayer requests:
Please pray for Melodie as she works with physical therapists to recover from an on-the-job leg injury. She is working hard even though it REALLY HURTS.
Also pray for the friends and family of David Curtis who passed away on Thursday. He was one of our very first Neighbors. We learned about serving with boundaries as we cared for David.
Edmonds Food Bank includes assortments of flowers and house plants in their gifts to Neighbors in Need. Some of the Neighbors select flowers and we volunteers absolutely love the gifts. This morning, it was the Neighbors who swarmed the flower boxes. They had stories for us about various librarians, service workers, medical caregivers, or grocery cashiers who had been patient or kind to them. They wanted to offer flowers to these women in honor of Mother’s Day. See? They do remember our kindness.
Enjoy this beautiful springtime. Special prayers for all moms.
