Weekly Report September 14, 2024

It was a day of abundance / abundant harvest and abundant blessing.

Thank you to the team from Edmonds Universalist Unitarian Church for preparing burritos!  They prepared and served more than 100 burritos this morning.  Thank you also for your monthly donation of cereals, cheese sticks, mandarins and beverages.  That is a lot of critical nutrition.  It’s a Big Deal 🙂

Our pantry team packed and distributed 66 grocery bags to our Neighbors.  They prepared one family box and gave pet food to two dogs and a cat.  Pets are life-support for many of our Neighbors.  Food that we can supply is another Big Deal.  Thank you to Bella’s Voice Thrift Store for their gifts of pet food.

And speaking of abundance, look at the fresh garden vegetables that our pantry was able to offer our Neighbors.  We had corn on the cob, four kinds of squash, three kinds of tomatoes, orange and yellow carrots,  green beans, peppers, and a variety of salad greens.  Even more nutrition for our very grateful Neighbors.

Our return to fall weather, including rain, made for a very busy day for our clothing team.   They had  a long line of Neighbors who needed jackets, rain ponchos, and sweatshirts.  Thank you to all for generous donations.  There is still need for help during the week to sort donated clothing.  If you have free time during the week (even one day is a huge help) contact Peggy 425 775 3349 or Joan 206 450 4900.

Mercy Watch had a busy day!  Fortunately, they had a large team on site.

It was via Mercy Watch that we experienced abundant blessing.  Devon is new and homeless in our community.  Not knowing where to find meals, he ate mushrooms that were in the grass where he slept.  The next day,  he found his way to Mercy Watch who sent him to Emergency.  By the time he got to Swedish, he was near death and will remain in hospital for several more days.  He is feeling much better and prayerfully grateful.

Once again, Advocates Recovery Services were on site to back up our volunteer team.  Thanks so much for hoagie sandwiches, cookies, and your collective hours of service to our Neighbors.

Prayer requests:

Kevin asks for prays of thanks for improving living circumstance.  Pray that he passes his housing inspection.  Also pray for safety on the streets for everyone and for a financial windfall.

Devon asks us to join him in prayers of praise and thanks for “being alive” .

We wish you peace,

Joan
