Weekly report June 24, 2023

David had to set up extra tables this morning and then Jeff had to add yet another table.  It was a truly busy, well attended day.

Maybe we can attribute the larger crowd to the knowledge that the team from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church serves biscuits and gravy, and fruit juice along with the always popular breakfast burritos.  They were cooking, serving, and cleaning right up to the very last moment.  Gloria Dei, we love your company and the Neighbors sure enjoy the special breakfast.

Our food pantry served 60 Neighbors this morning.  And yet again, we saw new guests. Also, we saw four Neighbors who are “back on the street”.  There is just not enough available support for housing that allows our Neighbors time to get securely on their feet.

NEEDED!!     Our clothing team are in need of men’s clothing, especially jeans and boxers.  They also need men’s belts.  (We have neighbors who cinch up their jeans by tying their belt loops together with shoelaces.  (We dare ya’ to wear that look to a housing application or job interview 🙁)

We also need shoes, both men’s and women’s.  All donations are gratefully accepted.

Prayer requests:

Kevin asks for prayers of thanks.  His bike was stolen, but quickly recovered “after a wild chase”.  Also, please join him in praying for clarity of mind, safety for his family, a complete fix for his van, safety in traffic, a financial windfall, and a clear path back to school.

Eric thanks us for our prayers for his uncle Bill.  Test results are giving Bill’s medical team a clear plan for restoring his health after a stroke.

We wish you a blessed summer, full of peace.

Joan
