We had a large crowd eager for a full breakfast. Thank you to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for sausage and gravy, pancakes, fruit juice AND burritos. Our crowd especially looks forward to every fourth Saturday. The team served 113 plates – a new high.
We are also grateful to Gloria Dei for donating clothing. They now maintain a donation barrel at their church. The team gifted our Neighbors with two very large bags of clothing.
Our pantry served 78 Neighbors and 2 families this morning. This is a busy department. Our volunteers customize each bag with selections of hoagie sandwiches, salads and/or fruits, salad greens from Trinity’s Community Garden, beverages, cheese sticks, and fruits, and hard boiled eggs. It’s all about nutrition.
The dental van was with us today. They treated 9 patients for cleanings, extractions and fillings. That’s a lot of pain relief!
An update from Trinity’s Community Garden: Our Neighbors have enjoyed fresh salad greens every week since late March. As we have entered summer, we are harvesting peas, tomatoes are growing and baby zucchini squash are responding to warm sunshine. Pepper plants, eggplants and squash are blooming. The garden is colorful as well as bountiful!
It is with sorrow that we report that Albert Hamilton passed away last Sunday. We will always remember his high energy and super loud voice. We will miss him every Saturday morning when he is not with us to help set up for NiN.
Don’t forget South County Fire ACT TO SAVE A LIFE training sponsored by Advocates Recovery Services. You will be trained to use Narcan, how to use APR and AED for cardiac arrest, and how to properly use a tourniquet. Training is this Wednesday, June 26th at 7 PM. The address is 16404 Highway 99 in Lynnwood.
Thanks for your prayers, your work, and your donations.
We wish you peace,
Joan
