Weekly Report December 20, 2025

Asking for grace if this report makes absolutely no sense.  The morning was super crowded and busy but in a richly rewarding way.  Every single volunteer (actually as they always are) was the true spirit of Christmas. (And now they each need a nap)

Our team from Holy Rosary Catholic Church fed the multitudes this morning.  They served 241 plates of hot breakfast plus burritos to go, PLUS hot chocolate and a variety of fresh fruit.  It was truly Christmas special.  Thank you on behalf of 241 cold and hungry Neighbors.

The pantry, of course, was equally busy.  They gave 97 bags of groceries plus 2 family boxes.  An especially fun part of the morning in the pantry were several boxes of cake mix, frosting and birthday party decorations.  These were given to sheltered Neighbors who can bake.  The very best part was hearing their plans for when and how to celebrate.  And we think we’re creative! 🙂

It is a season of giving.  In the Neighbors in Need world, it is always a season of giving.   The recent generosity of our NiN partners has been a clarification of what we are all about.

Our Neighbors are remembered by many anonymous givers.  It’s been a steady stream of drop-offs by unidentified members of our partner congregations.

Thank you to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for their giving tree that brought us clothing, food gifts and even gifts for life-giving pets.

Members of Trinity Lutheran Church and Schools added to the bounty.  The photo shows only a portion of their giving.  A full month’s giving would have filled the Narthex.

The donations from our partners filled 119 gift bags with gloves, hats, hand and foot warmers, and snacks.  The red gift bags going out the door represented generosity of gifting/ generosity of time giving, and generosity of sincere Christmas wishes.

Merry Christmas.  Your prayers and generosity of service surely define Christmas.

Joan
