Saturday Morning Weekly Report

Welcome to July!   Will the second half of the year pass as quickly as the first half? It was a busy morning and a bit of test.  A few of our Neighbors were grouchy and demanding.  Special thanks to every volunteer for your patience and generous care. Special thanks to Nurses Gail, from Mercy Watch,

David had to set up extra tables this morning and then Jeff had to add yet another table.  It was a truly busy, well attended day.   Maybe we can attribute the larger crowd to the knowledge that the team from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church serves biscuits and gravy, and fruit juice along with the always

We had an early crowd this morning.  Everyone was eager to be inside with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Many thanks to the team from Holy Rosary Catholic Church for preparing burritos.  They went quickly. Our pantry team gave out 51 bags of groceries and 2 family boxes.  They estimated an additional 10

We had early guests on this dark and very wet morning.  We invited them inside even though the coffee was not yet ready.  The early arrivals took it upon themselves to do the setup.  Allen helped with placement directions and they took charge of all the heavy lifting.  We truly are a Neighborhood. Just have to share a picture of the Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation breakfast team.  After arriving by 7:30 AM to prepare breakfast burritos, they deep clean the kitchen and then head out to see how else they can help.  This is typical of our burrito brigades.  They serve with purpose and great joy. John and Michelle were in charge!!   (By the way, they cook a delicious breakfast burrito.)  Sarah and Carter trained to be “rollers of breakfast burritos”.  They are hired at volunteer scale for all future burrito rolling opportunities. The typically slower first weekend of the month reflects our growing numbers.  Where a first weekend was usually

A word of wisdom from one of our long-term Neighbors.  “Before I place judgment on someone, I have to ask myself. ‘Did I write his book?’.” Our food bank and breakfast teams served 39 Neighbors and 3  families this morning.  Many thanks to Sue and Mark Waldin for providing a traditional breakfast  – scrambled eggs,
